Trouble & Drama Awaits Inter

After all the party and celebrations have died down, some serious and hard work awaits Inter’s owner and directors. There have been concerning and grave news emerging from Inter for some time now leading to what could be worrisome and gloomy summer.

Uncertain Future

There was some drama at the end of last season after some discontented comments made publicly by Antonio Conte. More drama awaits us this season. So much for trying to remove the tag of “Pazza Inter” from the club. The future of Conte, his staff and the players is uncertain. We are not sure who will be our manager next season and which players will remain and which would go. The celebrations for the Scudetto have merely papered over these uncertain times. It was nice, sweet and joyful to be crowned champions of Italy but we don’t want to wait for another decade before we become champions again.

Right Age Of The Present Squad

Unlike in the Treble winning season, you feel the team that we have now is at the start of its journey and has the potential to dominate for a few years due to their age. I don’t feel we need to sign too many players but we still need to sign the right players to further improve the squad. We cannot stagnate while the rest get stronger.

Conte, Will He Stay Or Go?

In the case of the manager, Antonio Conte, he is very demanding as one should be if they are in charge of a big club. He has the mentality of a winner and he has instilled that in the team. He would not settle for anything less. However, there are doubts about his ability to juggle European commitments with league ones. He is commonly known as the best one-game-per-week manager in the world as proven this season. Winning the Scudetto this season should mean that by merit he has to stay but that depends on the showdown talks with the Chairman, Steven Zhang.

Responsibility Of Suning Group

Inter ended their long and iconic association with tyre brand, Pirelli as shirt sponsors but have yet to secure new shirt sponsors. That has likely delayed the release of the new season’s kits as well. Suning Group has been nothing short of great for Inter since their takeover but they should feel responsible towards the fans, prestige and history of the club. If they don’t feel they have what it takes to ensure that Inter can keep on winning or at least be competitive, they should step aside and let someone who can ensure that take over.

Creative Methods Needed

Aside from this, the club can always be creative about the players we sign and focus more on developing talents from our youth academy to play in the first team. Bank on good coaching to improve young talents. Italy is notorious for not letting young talent through early into the first team. We can buck that trend. Whatever the case, as fans we face a troubling future but we hope it would be one that would be managed well to allay the fears. We hope the dark clouds will move away to be replaced by bright, sunny days in our near future.
